  1. 1. Effect of temperature on early stage adhesion during TiAlN sliding against Inconel 718 and Stainless steel 316L : High temperature tribology

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Ahsan Ali; [2023]
    Keywords : High temperature tribology; Early-stage adhesion; Adhesive wear; Friction; Wear resistant coatings; Physical vapour deposition PVD coatings; TiAlN; Tungsten carbide WC Co ; Difficult to machine super alloys; Inconel 718; Stainless steel 316L; High-performance materials; Abrasion; Oxidation; Chipping; Ploughing; Characterization;

    Abstract : High-performance materials such as stainless steels and nickel based super alloys are widely used in demanding applications where high mechanical and thermal properties are required. The applications of super alloys are mainly found in jet engines, power plants and gas turbines demanding high fatigue strength, corrosion and oxidation resistance as well as wear resistant properties. 2. 2. A pre-study for functional coatings evaluated on light metals to be applied on a new HPDC Mg-alloy : Investigating tribological and thermophysical properties, as-cast and coated

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Industriell produktutveckling, produktion och design

    Author : Louise Albo Zieme; Pontus Bergstedt; [2021]
    Keywords : reciprocating dry sliding wear test; thermophysical test; NiP-SiC; Ni-SiC; functional coatings; progressive scratch test; adhesion; magnesium alloy; aluminium alloy; hardness.;

    Abstract : Magnesium with two-thirds of the density compared to aluminium and one-quarter of steel, intrigues product developers and material scientists due to the light metal’s excellent combination of strength to weight ratio as well as their capability of being produced as a High Pressure Die Cast component compared to other ferrous or light metal alloys.   However, a magnesium alloy inherits some concerning drawbacks, limiting the exploitation in structural applications and mechanical design such as automotive, heavy machinery and aerospace components.
