  1. 6. Minimal Exploration in Episodic Reinforcement Learning

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Ardhendu Shekhar Tripathi; [2018]
    Keywords : Reinforcemebt Learning; Exploitation; Exploration; Regret; Optimism in Face of Uncertainty; Bayesian;

    Abstract : Exploration-exploitation trade-off is a fundamental dilemma that reinforcement learning algorithms face. This dilemma is also central to the design of various state of the art bandit algorithms. We take inspiration from these algorithms and try to design reinforcement learning algorithms in an episodic setting. READ MORE

  2. 7. Statistical and machine learning methods for classification of episodic memory

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Damir Basic Knezevic; Albin Heimerson; [2018]
    Keywords : Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : Multiple modern methods of statistical feature extraction and machine learning are applied to classification of encoding and retrieval of episodic memories us- ing electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings. Raw data, different time-frequency methods, and multiclass common spatial patterns are used for statistical feature ex- traction. READ MORE

  3. 8. Learning across experiences: an ERP study of memory integration.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Author : Oscar Haven; [2018]
    Keywords : memory integration context reinstatement; episodic memory; EEG; inference; hippocampus; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : This study investigated how individuals combine information learned across temporally separate events in order to make novel inferences through memory integration, utilising EEG to provide a novel investigation with high temporal resolution. Participants completed an associative inference task (Zeithamova & Preston, 2010) modified for EEG across three experiments, during which they learned stimulus pairs that shared a common item (AB/CB) along with control stimulus pairs (XY) in two encoding windows before being tested for their memory of these premise associations and, crucially, their ability to infer relationships between stimuli whose previous associated pairs shared a stimulus, but had not been viewed together (AC inference). 5. 10. The relationship of self-reported reading habits and declarative memory

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

    Author : Bernardo Álvarez; [2016]
    Keywords : Reading; books; declarative memory; episodic memory; semantic memory; böcker; deklarativt minne; Lectura; libros; memoria declarativa; memoria episódica; memoria semántica;

    Abstract : The present study examined the possibility that reading books might support declarative memory, and potentially contribute to the cognitive reserve and thereby minimize age-related decline in memory functions. It was a crosssectional study, where data were taken from 566 Betula Study participants, as well as the scores of declarative memory assessment tasks, and book reading reports. READ MORE
