  1. 21. Safe Reinforcement Learning for Human-Robot Collaboration : Shielding of a Robotic Local Planner in an Autonomous Warehouse Scenario

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Lukas Vordemann; [2022]
    Keywords : Human-Robot Collaboration; Safe Reinforcement Learning; Shielding; Risk Management; Autonomous Warehouse; Människa-Robot Samarbete; Säker Förstärkningsinlärning; Avskärmning; Riskhantering; Autonomt Lager;

    Abstract : Reinforcement Learning (RL) is popular to solve complex tasks in robotics, but using it in scenarios where humans collaborate closely with robots can lead to hazardous situations. In an autonomous warehouse, mobile robotic units share the workspace with human workers which can lead to collisions, because the positions of humans or non-static obstacles are not known by the robot. 2. 22. Deep Reinforcement Learning for Building Control : A comparative study for applying Deep Reinforcement Learning to Building Energy Management

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Wanfu Zheng; [2022]
    Keywords : Deep Reinforcement Learning; Building Control; Building Energy Management; Optimization; Thermal Discomfort; Operational Cost; Deep Reinforcement Learning; byggnadskontroll; Building Energy Management; optimering; termiskt obehag; driftskostnader;

    Abstract : Energy and environment have become hot topics in the world. The building sector accounts for a high proportion of energy consumption, with over one-third of energy use globally. A variety of optimization methods have been proposed for building energy management, which are mainly divided into two types: model-based and model-free. READ MORE

  3. 23. For The Benefit of All? – A WPR analysis of the International Organization for Migration’s discourses on ‘climate migration’

    University essay from Lunds universitet/LUMID International Master programme in applied International Development and Management; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi

    Author : Samantha Julien; [2022]
    Keywords : climate migration; migration; climate change; policy; international organization for migration; IOM; discourse; WPR approach; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the discourses produced by the International Organization for Migration in relation to the phenomenon of ‘climate migration’ in order to identify the main problematization and subsequent implications. Using Carol Bacchi’s approach entitled “What’s the problem represented to be?” and conducting a qualitative policy analysis of 13 documents written by the IOM between 2007-2022, the thesis answers the following questions: i) How does the IOM problematize ‘climate migration’ within its knowledge products? ii) How are the ‘climate migrants’ represented? iii) What are the implications of such problematizations? The analysis reveals that ‘climate migration’ is linked to one’s vulnerability to cope with climate change and is seen as an appropriate adaptation strategy. READ MORE

  4. 24. Impact of Lecture Hall Layout on Evacuations Using Crowd Simulations

    University essay from KTH/Datavetenskap

    Author : Tobias Mattsson; Ernest Umeh; [2022]
    Keywords : Lecture hall; Evacuation; Simulation; Evacuation rate; Layout variation; Föreläsningssal; Evakuering; Simulation; Evakueringstakt; Layoutvariationer;

    Abstract : The planning and preparation phases of emergency management are of great social interest. If appropriate safety measures can be implemented in buildings beforehand as a response to foreseeable hazards, the safety of individuals can be significantly increased. READ MORE

  5. 25. A molecular analysis of the interaction between the biocontrol fungus Clonostachys rosea and the cereal pathogen F. graminearum

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Author : Esther Kuper; [2021]
    Keywords : Agrobacterium- mediated transformation; Biocontrol; Clonostachys rosea;

    Abstract : Modern agriculture is increasingly challenged by newly emerging crop diseases- many of them caused by fungal pathogens. At the same time, excessive application of chemical fungicides accelerates the development of resistant pathogen strains and may cause harmful effects on non-target organisms. READ MORE
