    University essay from KTH/Mekatronik

    Author : Alexander Aronsson; Fahim Pirmohamed; [2021]
    Keywords : Mechatronics; Robot Arm; MATLAB; Fuzzy logic; Microcontroller; Mekatronik; Robotarm; MATLAB; Fuzzy logic; Mikrokontroller;

    Abstract : Today’s society is facing a large increase of automation and smart devices. Everything from coffee machines to fridges include some kind of electronics and embedded systems. The focus of this Bachelor’s thesis was to dive deeper into how these automated devices can be controlled and more specifically a robot arm. READ MORE

  2. 2. Comparing Different Approaches for Solving Large Scale Power Flow Problems on the CPU and GPU with the Newton-Raphson Method

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Manolo D'Orto; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Power system modelling is increasing in importance. It is vital for power system operations and transmission grid expansions, and therefore the future energy transition. The Swedish power system is under fast development to face the progress of more flexible demand, a higher share of distributed renewable sources, and updated capacities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and Assessment of Re-Fleet Assignment Model under Environmental Considerations

    University essay from KTH/Optimeringslära och systemteori

    Author : Prashant Prashant; [2020]

    Abstract : The imminent threat of global catastrophe due to climate change gets more real by each passing year. The Aviation trade association, IATA, claims that Aviation accounts for approximately 2% of the Greenhouse Gases (GHG) caused by human activities, and 3.5% of the total Radiative Forcing. READ MORE

  4. 4. Calibrating the Hull-White model using Adjoint Algorithmic Differentiation

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Simon Carmelid; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis includes a brief introduction to Adjoint Algorithmic Differentiation (AAD), accompanied by numerical examples, step-by-step explanations and runtime comparisons to a finite difference method. In order to show the applicability of AAD in a stochastic setting, it is also applied in the calculation of the arbitrage free price and partial derivatives of a European call option, where the underlying stock has Geometric Brownian motion dynamics. 5. 5. Hardware Architectures for the Inverse Square Root and the Inverse Functions using Harmonized Parabolic Synthesis

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Niclas Thuning; Tor Leo Bärring; [2016]
    Keywords : Approximation; Parabolic Synthesis; Newton-Raphson Metod; Inverse Square Root; Unary Functions; Elementary Functions; Second-Degree Interpolation; Arithmetic Computation; VLSI; ASIC; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comparison between implementations of the inverse square root function, using two approximation algorithms; Harmonized Parabolic Synthesis and the Newton-Raphson Method. The input is a 15 bit fixed-point number, the range of which is selected so that the implementation is suitable for use as a block implementing the inverse square root for floating-point numbers, and the designs are constrained by the error, which must be < 2^(-15).
