  1. 1. Bodies in Smartwatches : Embodied Data and Augmented Experiences in Self-Tracking Runners

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för kulturvetenskaper (KV)

    Author : Madelene Logren; [2023]
    Keywords : datafication; human-technology relations; postphenomenology; quantified self; self-tracking; smartwatches;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the relation between human and smartwatch by exploring the experiences of four Swedish long-distance runners who use digital technology to self-track their running activities. By examining the participating runners’ use of their smartwatches and smartwatch data as postphenomenological human-technology relations (Ihde, 1990), this thesis offers a perspective on the use of wearable self-tracking technology as augmenting human experience through digital data. 2. 2. AI-assisted analysis of ICT-centre cooling : Using K-means clustering to identify cooling patterns in water-cooled ICT rooms

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Energisystem

    Author : Oliver Wallin; Johan Jigsved; [2023]
    Keywords : AI; K-means; clustering; ICT-centre; data centre; data center; ICT-center; cooling; data center cooling;

    Abstract : Information and communications technology (ICT) is an important part in today’s society and around 60% of the world's population are connected to the internet. Processing and storing ICT data corresponds to approximately 1% of the global electricity demand. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Side-Channel Attack on Masked and Shuffled Implementations of M-LWE and M-LWR Cryptography : A case study of Kyber and Saber

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Linus Backlund; [2023]
    Keywords : Public-key Cryptography; Post-Quantum Cryptography; Kyber; Saber; Side-Channel Attack; Power Analysis; Asymetrisk Kryptering; Kvantsäker Kryptografi; Kyber; Saber; Sidokanalsattack; Effektanalys;

    Abstract : In response to the threat of a future, large-scale, quantum computer, the American National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) initiated a competition for designs of quantum-resistant cryptographic primitives. In 2022, the lattice-based Module-Learning With Errors (M-LWE) scheme Kyber emerged as the winner to be standardized. READ MORE

  4. 4. Uncertainties in the use of synthetic CT (sCT) for daily online adaptive radiotherapy for lung cancer

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Johansson Vivika; [2023]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background and purpose: Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) based online adaptive radiotherapy (oART) has been clinically implemented for several anatomical sites worldwide. However, random and abrupt anatomical changes with large density alterations can occur in lung patients, leading to uncertainties with synthetic computed tomography (sCT) and dose calculation. 5. 5. Messing With The Gap: On The Modality Gap Phenomenon In Multimodal Contrastive Representation Learning

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Industriell teknik

    Author : Mohammad Al-Jaff; [2023]
    Keywords : Multimodal machine learning; Representation learning; Self-supervised learning; contrastive learning; computer vision; computational biology; bioinformatics;

    Abstract : In machine learning, a sub-field of computer science, a two-tower architecture model is a specialised type of neural network model that encodes paired data from different modalities (like text and images, sound and video, or proteomics and gene expression profiles) into a shared latent representation space. However, when training these models using a specific contrastive loss function, known as the multimodalinfoNCE loss, seems to often lead to a unique geometric phenomenon known as the modality gap.
