  1. 1. The Säm fold structure : characterization of folding and metamorphism in a part of the eclogite–granulite region, Sveconorwegian orogen

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Stephen Michalchuk; [2013]
    Keywords : anatexis; high-T granulite; interference folds; polydeformation; Sveconorwegian orogen; SW Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Structural and petrological studies on complexly folded mafic and felsic layered sequences have been mapped in the parautochthonous basement of the Sveconorwegian Province, Sweden. Three deformation phases (D1, D2, D3)involving at least two fold phases (F2, F3) and two lineation phases (L2, L3) characterize a polyphase fold, which is primarily defined by a migmatized and highly competent garnet amphibolite. 3. 3. Sveconorwegian influence on the ca. 1.36 Ga old Tjärnesjö granite, and associated pyroxene bearing quartz-monzonites in southwestern Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Jenny Andersson; [1996]
    Keywords : Sveconorwegian influence; ca 1.36 Ga; geology; geography; Tjärnesjö granite; pyroxene; quartz-monzonites; southwestern Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The granite massif in the Tjärnesjö area, southwestern Sweden, was deformed and metamorphosed under granulite facies conditions in late Sveconorwegian time. The intrusive is dominated by a coarse-grained, megacrystic orthoclase granite. Pb-Pb evaporation datings on single zircons from the granite yield an age of ca. 1. READ MORE
