  1. 11. On the phase behavior of triglyceride/ethanol/water-systems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Sara Thuresson; [2017]
    Keywords : Pharmaceutical technology; läkemedelsteknologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : For personnel working in areas where hand disinfection is important, skin irritation on hands is a large and real problem. A solution may be a hand cream, containing ethanol, with moisturizing properties by using a Pickering emulsion. However, the effect of ethanol on a Pickering emulsion is unknown. READ MORE

  2. 12. Phase Behavior of Water and Cyclodextrin Systems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Markus Enekvist; [2017]
    Keywords : Phase Diagram; Chemical Engineering; Cyclodextrin; Pharmaceutical Technology; läkemedelsteknologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The effect of water on α-, β-, and γ-cyclodextrins (CD) was investigated using sorption calorimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic vapor sorption in order to understand the phase behavior and to create phase diagrams. By relating earlier X-ray diffraction patterns of cyclodextrins equilibrated over saturated salt solutions and literature regarding the cyclodextrin hydrates to the sorption calorimetry and vapor sorption results, it proved possible to determine several distinct cyclodextrin structures depending on the cyclodextrin/water composition. 3. 13. Investigation of the native starch-ethyl cellulose film coating for colon targeting

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Mohamed Esmael; Ali Majid; [2016]
    Keywords : starch; colon delivery; pharmaceutical technology; läkemedelsteknologi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to optimize a function starch-ethyl cellulose film for targeting the therapeutically active substance to the colon in the disease state for patients suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases. This study includes: • The preparation of the polymeric films and the investigation of the characterization (for example mechanical properties, water uptake, dry mass loss, and microscopy analysis) for these prepared film coatings. 4. 14. Suitability of Spray Dried Powder containing Lipids for Inhalation Formulation based on Fine Particle Fraction and Particle Size Distribution

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Hung Nguyen; [2016]
    Keywords : Fine Particle Fraction: Particle Size Distribution; Drying; Inhalation; DPI; Dry Powder Inhaler; Powder; Inhaler; Spray drying; Lipids; Inhalation Formulation; Lysozyme; Pharmaceutical Technology; läkemedelsteknologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The aim of this master thesis is to provide an indication of the suitability, or otherwise usage, of spray-drying for production of powder aimed for inhalation formulation and comparing the characteristics of the product, with and without lipids. Lipids have a proven effect of delaying release of active drug substances in the cardiovascular system and pulmonary systemic delivery has a number of advantages, chiefly among them being bypassing the first pass metabolism. 5. 15. Formulation and characterization of liposomal spray dried powders intended for inhalation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Fredrik Kullenberg; [2016]
    Keywords : Impactor; Phospholipid; Liposome; Spray Drying; Inhalation; Fine Particle Fraction; Pharmaceutical Technology; läkemedelsteknologi; Medicine and Health Sciences; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This master thesis has evaluated the possible use of a spray dryer to produce powders suitable for use as inhalants and whether the addition of liposomes to the solution to be spray dried would improve the properties of the powder. The powders created consisted of Lysozyme as model drug, Lactose as filler and stabilizer, and different types of phospholipids to create liposomes using an ethanol injection method. READ MORE
