  1. 1. A Petrographic and Paragenetic Characterization of the Ertelien Ni-Cu Deposit (Norway)

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Alena Niarezka; [2023]
    Keywords : Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit; ore geology; enrichment processes; nickel; cobalt; copper; optical microscopy; electron probe micro-analysis; critical metals; Ertelien Ni-Cu fyndighet; malmgeologi; anrikningsprocesser; nickel; kobolt; koppar; optisk mikroskopi; elektronsondsmikroanalys; kritiska metaller;

    Abstract : The escalating demand for metals driven by advancements in renewable energy technologies and hightech products has underscored the significance of understanding and characterizing ore deposits. This study focuses on the Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit in Norway, a region rich in nickel, cobalt, and copper resources—essential components for the transition to a sustainable energy future. READ MORE

  2. 2. Origin of Silicic Magmatism at the Katla Volcano, South Iceland

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Caroline Svanholm; [2021]
    Keywords : Katla volcano; Iceland; high-silica rocks; oxygen isotopes; AFC processes; Vulkanen Katla; Island; kiselrika bergarter; syreisotoper; AFC-processer;

    Abstract : Katla volcano, South Iceland, is a bimodal volcanic system hosting an unusual high number of silicic rocks within a basaltic rift setting. The petrogenesis of silica-rich rocks at Katla is controversial and two end-member hypotheses have been suggested. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studying magmatic systems through chemical analyses on clinopyroxene - a look into the history of the Teno ankaramites, Tenerife

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Vendela Haag; [2020]
    Keywords : clinopyroxene; sector zoning; concentric zoning; mass wasting; magma recharge; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Clinopyroxenes have the ability to crystallize over and respond to a large range of temperatures, pressures and chemical compositions, and thus, they are ideal for studies regarding the history of magmatic systems. In this thesis, the chemistry and zoning of four clinopyroxene crystals from an ankaramite sample from the Teno massif, Tenerife, were analysed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Temporal and genetical constraints of the Cu-Co Vena-Dampetorp deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Dino Leopardi; [2020]
    Keywords : Bergslagen; Vena; Dampetorp; Cu-Co; sulphide melting; Bastnäs-type; cobaltite; arsenopyrite; titanite dating; sulphide mineralization; sulphide re-mobilisation.; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Bergslagen Province is known for containing major Zn-Pb-Ag and Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag sulphide mineralizations with associated iron-oxide skarns and a lot of research have focused on understanding them. However, Cu-Co deposits like the Vena-Dampetorp deposit have received less attention. READ MORE

  5. 5. Major and trace element geochemical analysis of norites in the Hakefjorden Complex to constrain magma source and magma plumbing systems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Aodhan Barrett; [2020]
    Keywords : Anorthosite; norite; Plagioclase; Hakefjorden Complex; Sweden; Trace Elements; Geochemistry; Magma Origin; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Major and trace element data taken from plagioclase crystals from anorthosites and related rock units in the Hakefjorden Complex located off the west coast of Sweden were investigated for the purposes of constraining magma chamber processes and the source of the magma. Although the anorthosite units were completely homogenous in regards to its chemistry, the plagioclase in the associated norite and ilmenite-leuconorite units showed substantial variation. READ MORE
