  1. 31. A study of the gamma-ray emission from the blazar S50716+71 using the Fermi-LAT telescope

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för fysik och elektroteknik (IFE)

    Author : Fredrik Vislander; [2022]
    Keywords : AGN; active galactic nuclei; Fermi-LAT; astrophysics; gamma-rays; synchrotron self-Compton; SSC; S50716 71.;

    Abstract : This thesis sums up a bachelor project in which gamma-ray emission from an extra-galactic source (S50716+71) is studied using data collected by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT). The emission consists of 12,5 years of data (April 2008 to February 2020) in the energy range 100 MeV - 300 GeV. READ MORE

  2. 32. Polymer gel dosimetry - Using MRI-readout, simplified relatively non-toxic mixing procedure tested on FLASH

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Maria Blomstedt; [2022]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background: One of the polymer gel dosimeters available today is the N-isopropylamide (NIPAM) polymer gel dosimeter which has a less toxic monomer compared to other polymer gels and the advantage of being able to be manufactured under normal oxygen levels. Polymer gel dosimeters in general are advantageous independent dosimeters to use for verification of new radiation treatment techniques due to its favorable qualities such as very high resolution, 3D coverage, tissue equivalence and independence of energy and incident direction of the radiation beam. 3. 33. Higgs Boson Decay to Two Photons : Probing the Standard Model

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Daniel Slominski; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The Higgs to Two Photon decay channel is analyzed to one-loop in the Feynman gauge.  Triangle loop processes are evaluated using dimensional regularization due to divergent integrals.  The build up to Higgs physics is given by way of gauge theories in the Standard Model where we can then introduce the Higgs field. 4. 34. Spectroscopic model characterisation of hot exoplanet atmospheres

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Elin Sandvik; [2022]
    Keywords : Transit method; Transmission spectroscopy; Exoplanets; Hot Jupiter; Modelling; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Hot Jupiters are gas giants under intense stellar radiation with short orbital periods of only a few days. Due to their large radii, hot temperatures, and large scale heights, hot Jupiters can be observationally characterised in detail through spectroscopy over an entire orbital phase. READ MORE

  5. 35. Demonstrating quantum entanglement and Hong-Ou-Mandel effect, using type-II spontaneous parametric down conversion with C programming for data collection

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Erik Svanberg; Johan Johannisson Lundquist; [2022]
    Keywords : Quantum entanglement; polarization; HOM; Hong-Ou-Mandel; indistinguishability; type-II SPDC; spontaneous parametric down conversion; non-linear crystal; beam splitter; indistinguishable photons; data collection in C;

    Abstract : Spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) is used to generate quantum entangled photons through a non-linear crystal. The entanglement of photons is demonstrated by observing the effects of indistinguishability on photons, first through time and energy, then by polarization. The Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) effect was also demonstrated. READ MORE
