  1. 6. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field. 2. 7. Analysis of Hall effect thrusters using Hybrid PIC simulations and coupling to EP plume

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Rymdteknik

    Author : David Villegas Prados; [2020]
    Keywords : Hallis; SPIS; EP; plume; hybrid PIC; Hall effect; HET; inside channel; plume expansion;

    Abstract : In the last 30 years, numerical models have been developed to properly analyze Hall eect thrusters (HET),leading to a bridge between analytical prediction/empirical intuition and experiments. For companies in thespace sector, these codes serve to much more than simply simulating the thruster, but it provides a fast, cheapand reliable tool for processes such as validation and verication procedures, as well as for technical developmentof the thruster. 3. 8. Modeling the complex ejecta on 2017 September 6-9 with WSA-ENLIL+Cone and EUHFORIA

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi; Uppsala universitet/Institutet för rymdfysik, Uppsalaavdelningen

    Author : Anita Linnéa Elisabeth Werner; [2018]
    Keywords : CME; space weather; forecast; prediction; WSA-ENLIL Cone; EUHFORIA; preconditioning; type II radio burst; kmTII; dcld; September 2017; geoeffective;

    Abstract : Three CMEs which erupted on 2017 Sep 4 and 6 underwent mutual interaction before reaching Earth on Sep 6-9, where it gave rise to a complex and unexpectedly geoeffective structure as detected by WIND at L1. The spacecraft first observed an interplanetary (IP) shock on Sep 6 followed by a turbulent sheath. READ MORE

  4. 9. The Mapping and Visualization of Deuterium in Surfaces of Plasma Facing Components

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Axel Trange; Jonas Widegren; [2018]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In this paper we discuss how the spatial distribution of deuterium and especially its depth distribution can be determined and visualized for Plasma Facing Components (PFC). The main incentive of the project is to find attractive ways of presenting the distribution. Common ways of presentation are cross sectional 2D images. READ MORE

  5. 10. Elliptic Flow Studies using Event Shape Engineering in Pb-Pb Collisions at ALICE

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Rickard Lydahl; [2017]
    Keywords : Elliptic Flow; ALICE; Event Shape Engineering; Pb-Pb; lead-lead; Particle physics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Inn ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions, QCD matter undergoes a phase transition to a strongly interacting Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) where quarks and gluons are deconfined. The expansion of this plasma is well described by ideal hydrodynamics, suggesting that it behaves like a perfect, reversible, liquid. READ MORE
