  1. 6. The two-Higgs-doublet modelas an explanation for the muon (g−2) discrepancy

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Zenny Wettersten; [2020]
    Keywords : Beyond Standard Model; BSM; CP violation; Higgs Physics; two Higgs doublet model; 2hdm; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The general Z2-violating two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is analysed as an explanation for the discrepancy between Standard Model predictions and experimental measurements of the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment ∆aµ, with the condition that it does not provide an electron electric dipole moment |eEDM| larger than experimental bounds. Several point studies of individual 2HDM parameter space points are made to show large-scale cancellation among Barr-Zee 2-loop contributions to |eEDM| at large Yukawa lepton sector magnitudes, as well as an approximately linear growth of total aµ contribution when those magnitudes are rescaled by a common factor, reaching the same order as ∆aµ. 2. 7. Renormalization Group Evolution Analysis of the Gauged Froggatt-Nielsen Mechanism in 2-Higgs-doublet Models

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Robin Plantey; [2019]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we consider a 2-Higgs-doublet model with a gauged Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism as an extension of the standard model. We assume that (i) the theory at the electroweak scale is the low energy limit of a theory defined at a scale $\Lambda_{FN}$ (ii) the Yukawa couplings at $\Lambda_{FN}$ are generated by the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism. 3. 8. Anomaly-free Froggatt-Nielsen extensions of the Standard Model with two Higgs doublets

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Felix Tellander; [2018]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this Master thesis we extend the Standard Model with an additional $U(1)$ gauge group and an additional Higgs doublet with a lepton specific $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. This is used in a gauged version of the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism to describe the observed masses and mixings among fermions. READ MORE

  4. 9. Explaining B-> D^(*) tau nu Decays with a Two Higgs Doublet Model using the Froggatt-Nielsen Framework

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Emil Andersson; [2017]
    Keywords : Two Higgs Doublet Model; 2HDM; Froggatt-Nielsen; Flavon; B-meson; Higgs; Beyond Standard Model; BSM; Theoretical Particle Physics; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In recent years, the BaBar, Belle and LHCb experiments have observed an excess of $B\to D^{(*)}\tau\nu$ decays compared to Standard Model predictions. In this thesis, we investigate if it is possible to explain this excess with a two Higgs doublet model using the Froggatt-Nielsen framework. READ MORE

  5. 10. Abelian gauge symmetries in the two-Higgs-doublet model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Franz Teichmann; [2017]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The two-Higgs-doublet model is a promising extension of the Standard Model of particle physics, but it contains a large number of free parameters. With the intention to constrain this freedom, the model has been studied under different symmetries. In particular, a full classification of Abelian global symmetries has been presented in 2011.
