  1. 1. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Johan Holmberg; [2024]
    Keywords : Free Electron Lasers; FEL; synchrotron radiation; MAX IV; FemtoMAX; GENESIS 1.3; XFEL; X-rays; soft X-rays; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 2. 2. Performance Evaluation of a 3D Printed Mirror Actuator : A Comparison with the James Webb Space Telescope

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Louise Leopoldsson; Ellen Lindsjö; [2023]
    Keywords : Actuator; James Webb Space Telescope;

    Abstract : This study aims to investigate the similarities in precision and performance between a James WebbSpace Telescope mirror actuator, the part controlling the motion of the primary mirror segments,and two 3D printed replicas. The two replicas were made from the plastics PLA and PETGand based on the designs of Zachary Tong. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biomechanical investigation of the efficacy and perceived performance of a knee brace

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Alice Garnheim; Alvina Vernersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Biomechanical investigation; knee brace; osteoarthritis; design; OA; healthy subjects; gait analysis; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The most prevalent joint disease in adults is osteoarthritis. The knee joint is the joint which is the most affected by osteoarthritis, with mechanical overloading being one of the causes. While no cure exists for osteoarthritis, many different treatment options are available. One alternative is to wear a knee brace on the affected leg. READ MORE

  4. 4. Motion tracking for virtual reality using inertial motion sensors

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Max Lindgren; Marcus Olsson; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Human motion capture has until recently been dominated by camera-based solutions. With advancements within Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) based solutions are being explored. This thesis explores the possibility of using IMUs for augmenting motion tracking for Virtual Reality (VR). READ MORE
