  1. 1. Estimating historic ranges of extinct scavenging birds from North America during the late Pleistocene using co-occurrence data from the fossil record

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Author : Melissa Miranda; [2023-06-30]
    Keywords : Scavenging birds; Vultures; Co-occurrence Data; Range Estimates; Spatial Autoregressive Models; Co-extinction;

    Abstract : The aim of my study was to estimate and compare the historic range of nine scavenging birds from North America that went jointly extinct with their mammalian megafaunal prey in the Late Pleistocene. Although the severity and timing of their co-extinction are strongly correlated, there has been little analytical support in providing estimates for the possible geographic distribution of scavenging birds prior to the extinction event. 2. 2. Creating a High-Throughput Workflow for Automated Peptide Characterization using LC-MS

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Sara Forsberg; [2023]
    Keywords : High-throughput analysis; Impurity profiling; UHPLC-HRMS; Peptide characterization; Peptide descriptors; Analytical chemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In the early stage of a drug discovery project, there is a need for efficient methods that can analyse peptides in short time. This includes methods that confirm the peptide’s identity and estimates its relative purity in an efficient and reliable way. READ MORE

  3. 3. Sustainable use of calcium nitrate fertilizer under variable precipitation, soil properties and crop management

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Author : Liliana Marcela Daza Gomez; [2023]
    Keywords : nitrogen.; calcium nitrate; ammonium-based fertilizers; urea; nitrate leaching; nitrous oxide emissions; crop yield;

    Abstract : Application of nitrogen fertilizers in agriculture contributes substantially to global greenhouse gas emissions and nitrogen leaching. Accordingly, there is a need to increase knowledge about sustainable farming practices to reduce nitrogen losses to the environment without curtailing crop harvest. READ MORE

  4. 4. Collaborative Mapping with Drone Swarms Utilizing Relative Distance Measurements

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Reglerteknik

    Author : Johan Forsman; Carl Tidén; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The field of use for unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs, has completely exploded in the last decade. Today they are used for surveillance missions and inspecting places that are difficult for people to access. To increase the efficiency and robustness in the execution of these types of missions, swarms of cooperating drones can be used. READ MORE

  5. 5. Radio Environment Compensation in a Narrowband IoT Positioning System : Using Radio Signal Metrics Between Stationary Devices

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Elin Berglund; [2023]
    Keywords : Positioning; IoT; machine learning; range estimation; Positionering; IoT; maskininlärning; avståndsuppskattning;

    Abstract : The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a powerful tool for meeting our need to collect information about and interact with our environments. One important aspect of this technology is positioning which imposes requirements on both the energy consumption and the arrangement of the systems. READ MORE
