  1. 16. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Ann-Kathrin Wild; [2022]
    Keywords : trace elements; tree-rings; dendrochemistry; dendroclimatology; ITRAX; Laacher See; mofettes; tree-bark; Quercus sp.; Fagus sp.;

    Abstract : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake. 2. 17. Centennial Climate Variability

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Thomas Askjær; [2022]
    Keywords : Climate variability; paleoclimate; climatemodelsimulations; proxyrecords; spectralanalysis; model proxycomparison;

    Abstract : Throughout earths history, the climate have always naturally varied due to both external forcings and internal mechanisms. With the outlook on future climate change, it is important to understand the climate system and this includes its natural variability. Depending on the driving mechanisms, the variability happens over different timescales. READ MORE

  3. 18. Arctic amplification and their relation to regional warming

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Marianne Olsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Arctic; arctic amplification; climate; climate change; global warming; metrics; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Arctic amplification (AA) is defined as the enhanced warming of the surface temperatures in the Arctic region relative to the globe or Northern Hemisphere (NH) in response to external forcings. It is a prominent feature of the climate system. READ MORE

  4. 19. Investigating the dynamics controlling dissolved organic matter bioreactivity in agricultural stream water and its link to carbon evasion : A statistical analysis

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Sara Schützer; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : While streams and rivers emit large quantities of CO2 to the atmosphere, both the mechanisms controlling CO2 evasion as well as the sources of CO2 are still uncertain. One potential source of stream CO2 is in-stream degradation of dissolved organic matter (DOM). READ MORE

  5. 20. Evaluating Sentinel-2 based phenology and productivity data for crop monitoring in Swedish agricultural fields

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Daniel Erlström; [2022]
    Keywords : Geography; Phenology; Agriculture; Yield; Remote Sensing; Sentinel-2; Productivity; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Sentinel-2 based data provides interesting opportunities for land monitoring and applications in agriculture. High-Resolution Vegetation Phenology and Productivity (HR-VPP) is derived from Sentinel-2 data and offers up to 13 metrics. READ MORE
