  1. 21. Risk assessment of marine energy projects

    University essay from KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Author : Steven Gueguen; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The marine energy technologies (Wave Energy Converters, Tidal Energy Converters and floating wind turbines) are still at an early stage of development since no commercial array exists today. Their development has to face three main issues: the lack of feedback from the field, the great diversity of the existing technologies and the harsh marine environment. READ MORE

  2. 22. Assessment of Embodied Energy and Carbon Emissions of the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon from a Life Cycle Perspective

    University essay from Mittuniversitetet/Avdelningen för ekoteknik och hållbart byggande

    Author : Peter Simon; [2015]
    Keywords : Life Cycle Assessment; embodied energy; carbon emissions; tidal energy; tidal lagoon; renewable energy; Swansea Bay;

    Abstract : In the pursuit of low-carbon, renewable energy sources one option with great potential in the UK is tidal energy. Specifically the proposed construction of the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon (SBTL) in South Wales has become one such discussed option. READ MORE

  3. 23. The consequences of dwarf galaxies colliding with the Milky Way

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Ryan Skeoch; [2014]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : I simulate the collision of satellite galaxies with the Milky Way and observe the effects that this has on the orbits of the globular cluster populations within both the Milky Way and the satellite galaxies. This is done in order to investigate whether some of the Milky Way's globular clusters could have been donated from satellite galaxies which have been tidally stripped, since it is believed that the Sagittarius dwarf spheroidal galaxy is being tidally disrupted and that some of its globular clusters have been tidally stripped from it (such as Pal 12 and NGC 4147). 4. 24. ON THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE AMONG ECO-INNOVATION FIRMS : THE INFLUENCE OF EXTERNAL SOURCES

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Centrum för innovations-, entreprenörskaps- och lärandeforskning (CIEL)

    Author : Niklas Andersson; Jason Kimström; [2014]
    Keywords : ECO-INNOVATION; EXTERNAL SOURCES; INNOVATION; ACQUISITION; SUPPLIER INVOLVEMENT; CUSTOMER INVOLVEMENT;

    Abstract : This study was conducted to explore the external sources of knowledge that are present around the eco-innovation firms. Our study has focused on eco-innovations with the aim  to find sustainable solutions, leading the reduction in greenhouse gases, on the extraction of renewable energy sources, since studies have indicated a link between the industrialization and the impact on the climate. 5. 25. Fluid Structure Interaction Modeling of the Dynamic of a Semi Submerged Buoy

    University essay from Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Sektionen för ingenjörsvetenskap

    Author : Shatha Hameed Hajwal; Hamza Zeidan Nasser; [2013]
    Keywords : COMSOL Multiphysics; wave energy converter; Dynamic characteristic; Submerged body; Finite Element method FE ; SDOF; ALE.;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a study of buoy systems for wave’s energy by focusing on the development of a model in which modeling of a wave energy conversation is in operation. Throughout the thesis, the buoyancy and motion of the submerged body has been used to describe the wave-buoy interaction. READ MORE
