1. Testing aerosol vertical profiling methods with portable instruments on unmanned and manned aircraft
University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapAbstract : This thesis employed several portable sensors on board an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and manned aircraft in order to test new methods of measuring vertical profiles of aerosol particles and contribute to knowledge of aerosol distributions in the atmosphere. More data in this area is required to improve atmospheric modelling and future climate scenarios. READ MORE

2. Influences of black carbon levels in the micro-environment inside urban buses
University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för miljövetenskapAbstract : Several studies indicate that the cabin of buses is the micro-environment in urban public transport where commuters might be the most exposed to black carbon. Black carbon functions as an indicator of air pollution, which is shown to have harmful impacts on the human body and because it may lead to cancers, systemic inflammation, and cardiovascular diseases, it is listed as one of the top causes to premature deaths, globally. 3. Planetary boundary layer height measurements in a rural environment in southern Sweden - Relation to meteorological parameters and aerosol particle concentrations
University essay from Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenAbstract : The aim of this project is to analyse planetary boundary layer height (BLH) measurements from the Hyltemossa research station and find their dependence on seasonality, time of day, and air temperature. Further, investigation was made into the correlation between mass concentration of particulate matter with equivalent diameter... READ MORE

5. Influence from long-distance transport, local sources and precipitation on black carbon concentrations at a rural background field station in southern Sweden
University essay from Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenAbstract : The year 2018 was the first complete year with aerosol observations at the rural background station Hyltemossa in southern Sweden. The aim of this thesis was to analyse and investigate the influence from long-distance transport (LDT) aerosols, local sources and precipitation on the black carbon (BC) mass concentration by utilising the Aethalometer and the HYSPLIT model, which estimated the BC mass concentration ([BC]) and simulated the origin of the LDT air masses to Hyltemossa, respectively.
