  1. 1. Digital mapping of techno-economic performance of a liquid-based solar photovoltaic/thermal (PVT) system over large geographical cities around the world

    University essay from Högskolan Dalarna/Energiteknik

    Author : Santhan Reddy Penaka; [2020]
    Keywords : PVT; Liquid-based; Techno-economic analysis; Digital mapping; Large geographical cities;

    Abstract : Photovoltaic thermal (PVT) collectors are widely used to harness a large fraction of the solar spectrum to generate electricity and heat from a single collector. The circulation of the working medium will pass through the collector which cools down the PV cell temperature and also increases the water temperature, which will increase the electrical and thermal performance at the same time. 2. 2. Sensitivity analysis of important parameters affecting daylight - Assessment of a typical cellular office in Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Energi och byggnadsdesign

    Author : Danai Vogiatzi; [2018]
    Keywords : daylight; office; dynamic metrics; static metrics; orientation; glazing transmittance; surface reflectance; window size; shape; position; number and niche; obstruction angle; sensitivity analysis; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis was the impact evaluation of several parameters affecting daylight conditions in a typical cellular office in Lund, Sweden. The research approach that was followed consisted of three distinct steps; the literature review in order to specify the dependent and independent variables of the study, the simulation part to produce daylight performance data and the graphical analysis as interpretation of the data produced. 3. 3. Corrosion initiation induced by sodium sulfate and sodium chloride particles on Cu and the golden alloy Cu5Al5Zn at simulated atmospheric conditions

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Weijie Zhao; [2017]
    Keywords : atmospheric corrosion; sodium sulfate; sodium chloride; Cu5Al5Zn; Cu metal; mixed salt pre-deposition; laboratory exposure; LOM; SEM EDS; ATR-FTIR; cathodic reduction;

    Abstract : Effects of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) particle deposition on the atmospheric corrosion of copper (Cu) metal and a Cu-based alloy (Cu5Al5Zn) used in architectural applications were investigated at laboratory conditions compared with effects induced by sodium chloride (NaCl) and to some extent ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 induced corrosion. Pre-deposited surfaces were exposed to repeated wet/dry conditions in a climatic chamber and the formation of corrosion products were assessed using light optical microscopy (LOM), scanning electron microscopy with elemental analysis (SEM/EDS), Fourier transform infrared techniques (FTIR microscopy) and cathodic reduction (CR). 4. 4. Quantitative model of present and future well-being in the EU-28 : a spatial multi-criteria evaluation of socioeconomic and climatic comfort factors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Joakim Jörwall; [2017]
    Keywords : GIS; well-being; multi-criteria evaluation; EU-28; physical geography and ecosystem analysis; UTCI; Tourism Climatic Index; Predicted Mean Vote; Analytic Hierarchy Process; Fuzzy membership; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Both within the EU and within other regions/countries, there is a need to measure and monitor the well-being/Quality of Life (QoL) of people, in order to identify, anticipate, and address potential social or economic problems, at national and regional levels. This study presents a model to quantitatively estimate the spatial well-being (QoL) distribution across the EU-28 member states down to the municipal level, using tools offered by GIS. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analyzing the Effect of Soiling on the Performance of a Photovoltaic System of Different Module Technologies in Kalkbult, South Africa

    University essay from Högskolan Dalarna/Energiteknik

    Author : Ashenafi Weldemariam; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The fact that most of the large scale solar PV plants are built in arid and semi-arid areas where land availability and solar radiation is high, it is expected the performance of the PV plants in such locations will be affected significantly due to high cell temperature as well as due to soiling. Therefore, it is essential to study how the different PV module technologies will perform in such geographical locations to ensure a consistent and reliable power delivery over the lifetime of the PV power plants.
