  1. 11. Migration and activity of the eastern black-backed jackal (Canis mesomelas schmidtii) in Ol Pejeta, Kenya

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Author : Julia Hedman Wallin; [2022]
    Keywords : black-backed jackals; Kenya; activity; weather; moon; illumination;

    Abstract : This study examined the effects of weather during the day and illumination at night on the migration activity of the eastern black-backed jackals (Canis mesomelas schmidtii) in Ol Pejeta, a wildlife conservancy in Kenya, from October 2015 to December 2019. Jackal ecology is an understudied subject where focus has been directed to a sub-specie of black-backed jackals in southern Africa, with different animals, seasons, and habitats than to those in Ol Pejeta and eastern Africa. 2. 12. ALS (Airborne Lidar) accuracy: Can potential low data quality of Lidar ground points be modelled/detected based on recorded point cloud characteristics? Case study of 2016 Lidar capture over Auckland, New Zealand

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Gabriela Olekszyk; [2022]
    Keywords : Geography; GIS; Lidar; ALS; Point cloud; Accuracy; Quality; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Gabriela Olekszyk ALS (Airborne Lidar) accuracy: Can potential low data quality of Lidar ground points be modelled/detected based on recorded point cloud characteristics? Case study of 2016 Lidar capture over Auckland, New Zealand. Lidar (Light Detection and Ranging) data is becoming more widely available and accessible. READ MORE

  3. 13. The Rotational Centre of the Large Magellanic Cloud

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Alma Bergström; [2022]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The Large and Small Magellanic Clouds (LMC & SMC) are the two largest galaxies orbiting the Milky Way (MW). The interactions between them have affected the evolution of both galaxies. The interactions have affected the galaxies differently depending on how strong they have been. READ MORE

  4. 14. Evaluation of a change detection approach to map global flood extents using Sentinel-1

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Axel Risling; [2022]
    Keywords : Flood mapping; global flood models; synthetic aperture radar; cloud-computing; change detection; Översvämningskartering; globala översvämningsmodeller; syntetisk aperturradar; molntjänster; förändringsdetektering;

    Abstract : Floods are the most frequent disaster in the world and flood exposure is increasing globally. Flood mapping of past events can be a useful aid in not only disaster risk management, but also in evaluating and validating global flood models (GFMs) which are being used to assess and predict these floods. 5. 15. Snow-graupel collisions in clouds: a newly derived formulation for breakup of single crystals

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Victor Craig van der Brug; [2022]
    Keywords : Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; Secondary Ice Production; Ice Cloud Number Concentration; Cloud Ice; Ice-Ice Collisions; Snow Crystal; Atmospheric Science Biogeochemical Cycles; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The observed and well-known discrepancy between concentrations of ice nucleating particles in the environment and the concentrations of ice particles in clouds show that there are additional ‘secondary’ processes enhancing the concentrations of ice particles. In present-day modelling of weather and climate, such processes are mostly overlooked and thus a cause for uncertainty. READ MORE
