  1. 1. Electrical analysis of interface recombination of thin-film CIGS solar cells

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Henrik Lotse; [2020]
    Keywords : interface recombination; SCAPS; activation energy; temperature dependent IV; dominant recombination path;

    Abstract : In this master thesis, electrical characterization of thin film CuInxGa(1−x)Se2 solar cells produced by Midsummer AB were performed with the aim of determining the dominant recombination path of these cells. Current-Voltage (IV), Quantum Effinciency (QE), temperature dependent IV (IVT) and Drive-Level Capacitance Profiling (DLCP) was used with the objective to investigate the dominant recombination path as well as provide some insight of the solar cells in order to create a baseline model using the modelling software SCAPS (Solar cell CAPacitance Simulator). 2. 2. Processing of Sub-micrometer Features for Rear Contact Passivation Layer of Ultrathin Film Solar Cells Using Optical Lithography

    University essay from

    Author : Evelina Roxner; Ronja Olsmats Baumeister; [2019]
    Keywords : nanofabrication; optical lithography; photo lithography; line contacts; microfabrication; rear contact passivation; passivation layer; sub-micrometer features; thin film; ultra-thin film; solar cells; CIGS; aluminiumoxide;

    Abstract : Thin film copper, indium, gallium, selenide (CIGS) solar cells are promising in the field of photovoltaic technology. To reduce material and fabrication cost, as well as increasing electrical properties of the cell, research is ongoing towards ultra-thin film solar cells (absorption layer thickness less than 500 nm). 3. 3. Synthesis of CdZnS by Chemical Bath Deposition for Thin Film Solar Cells

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets elektronik

    Author : Emil Fjällström; [2017]
    Keywords : CdZnS; Chemical Bath Deposition; Thin film solar cells; CZTS; CIGS;

    Abstract : The buffer layer is a crucial component in thin film solar cells. Defects at the interface between absorber and buffer layer lead to high recombination rate and the band structure at the interface highly affects the performance of the solar cell. READ MORE

  4. 4. Time-resolved study of charge photo-generation in polymer-based solar cells with low driving force

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Paulius Baronas; [2014]
    Keywords : Organic polymer solar cells; BHJ solar cells; Charge photo-generation; Driving force; Time resolved photoluminescence; CT states; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Organic polymer-based solar cells recently attracted much attention as an efficient and inexpensive light-to-electricity conversion solution. However, the mechanism behind charge generation processes in organic materials is still not fully understood due to complex nature of carbon-based compounds. READ MORE

  5. 5. Characterization of Al2O3 as CIGS surface passivation layer in high-efficiency CIGS solar cells

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets elektronik

    Author : Jonathan Joel; [2014]
    Keywords : CIGS; Surface Passivation; Thin Film Solar Cells; Al2O3; Capacitance-Voltage; Photoluminescence;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a novel method of reducing the rear surface recombination in copper indium gallium (di) selenide (CIGS) thin film solar cells, using atomic layer deposited (ALD) Al2O3, has been evaluated via qualitative opto-electrical characterization. The idea stems from the silicon (Si) industry, where rear surface passivation layers are used to boost the open-circuit voltage and, hence, the cell efficiency. READ MORE
