  1. 1. Stabilizing biogas processes at high ammonia : effects of acetate pulse-feeding on the microbial population

    University essay from SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Author : Oscar Dolk; [2020]
    Keywords : biogas; anaerobic digestion; ammonia inhibition; acetate enrichment;

    Abstract : This study investigated the problem of ammonia inhibition in biogas reactors, commonly occurring when protein rich substrates are used in anaerobic digestion processes. Ammonia inhibition is one of the foremost causes of failure in anaerobic digestion, leading to process instability, with symptoms commonly expressed as; reduction in biogas produced, decreased methane content in the gas and accumulation of volatile fatty acids. 2. 2. Modelling and optimising a power-to-gas system : a case study in Uppsala

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Energy and Technology

    Author : Carolina Hertzberg; [2020]
    Keywords : power-to-gas; dynamisk modell; fallstudie; biogas; optimering; lönsamhet;

    Abstract : För att det svenska elnätet ska fungera krävs det att balansen på elnätet upprätthålls hela tiden, skillnader mellan produktion och efterfrågan leder till obalans på elnätet. I dagsläget, i Sverige, upprätthålls balansen genom att minska eller öka elproduktionen från vattenkraften. READ MORE

  3. 3. Rock cavern as thermal energy storage

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Energivetenskap

    Author : Simon Berglund; [2020]
    Keywords : Rock cavern; Waste heat; District heating; Intermittent operation; Sustainability; Heat storage; Carbon dioxide reduction; Bergrum; Spillvärme; Fjärrvärme; Intermittent drift; Hållbarhet; Värmelagring; Koldioxid reducering;

    Abstract : In the fall of 2019, a comprehensive idea study was conducted on heat storage in two rock caverns located at Näsudden in Skelleftehamn and was part of the project course "Energiteknik, huvudkurs" at Luleå University of Technology. This idea study investigated the conditions of using waste heat from Boliden AB:s copper smeltery (Rönnskär) and storing this waste heat in two rock caverns and use them as seasonal thermal storage tanks, with the purpose of using the heat in the nearby district heating network, thus replacing some of the oil burned at Rönnskär. 4. 4. Hållbart byggande : kommuners arbete för flerbostadshus i trä

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Economics

    Author : Viktor Holfve; [2020]
    Keywords : cirkulär ekonomi; flerbostadshus i trä; hållbarhet; koldioxidnivåer; ReSOLVE; träbyggnadsstrategi; carbon levels; circular economy; multistory wood construction; sustainability; wood building strategies;

    Abstract : Hållbarhet är ett begrepp som blir allt mer aktuellt då klimatförändringar påverkar människor världen över. Klimatförändringar som delvis anses bero på ökade koldioxidutsläpp i atmosfären. Flera insatser genomförs för att möta utmaningar som klimatförändringarna, där hållbart byggande är ett initiativ. 5. 5. Pyrolytic biochar stability assessed by chemical accelerating aging method

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Binbin Chen; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Now that the EU and Sweden have adopted a new climate policy framework to regulate net carbon emission. A new concept, negative CO2 emission, has been considered to neutralize the CO2 generated from necessary consumption of fossil fuel. Biochar, as a pyrolytic product from biomass, can store carbon in a relatively stable way. READ MORE
