  1. 11. A Quantum Chemical Investigation of Chemical Vapour Deposition of Fe using Ferrocene and Plasma Electrons

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Author : Felicia Andersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Quantum chemistry; Ferrocene; Silver; Ag 111 ; Plasma electrons; Surface chemistry; Electronic structure; DFT; Kvantkemi; Ferrocen; Silver; Ag 111 ; Plasmaelektroner; Ytkemi; Elektronstruktur; DFT;

    Abstract : Thin films provide a remarkable asset, as depositing a thin surface layer can completely alter a material’s characteristics and provide new, inexpensive, and valuable properties. In 2020, a new Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) approach was developed at Linköping University, using plasma electrons as reducing agents for the deposition of metallic thin films. READ MORE

  2. 12. Additively Manufactured Rare Earth Free Permanent Magnets

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap; Uppsala universitet/Oorganisk kemi

    Author : Himesha Abenayake; [2023]
    Keywords : additive manufacturing; MnAl; MnAl C ; rare earth free permanent magnets; selective laser melting; SLM; MnAl-based permanent magnets;

    Abstract : It’s well known that MnAl(C) material consists of a metastable phase (τ) with promising ferromagnetic properties, produced either by controlled cooling from the high-temperature hexagonal ε-phase or rapid cooling that freezes the ε-phase followed by low-temperature annealing. Due to the high cooling rates involved, additive manufacturing (AM) especially selective laser melting (SLM), has been identified as a possible method to retain the high-temperature ε-phase, hence containing a potential capacity to produce permanent magnets upon low-temperature annealing. 3. 13. Biocatalysis in Pickering emulsions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI)

    Author : Christine Vera Isabel Schmidt; [2023]
    Keywords : Enzymes; Pickering emulsion; Amine Transaminases; Green Chemistry; Stereoselectivity; Biotechnology; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Employing enzymes as catalysts in the production of chiral amines that are both used as building blocks and active pharmaceutical ingredients might be promising due to milder reaction conditions compared to non-biological catalysts, exclusion of heavy metals, high selectivity towards substrates and precision in chirality of the products. Transaminases are attractive for the use in this process. READ MORE

  4. 14. Linking the selectivity of varying surface phases of a real palladium catalyst toward specific methane oxidation pathways with Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Ulrike Küst; [2023]
    Keywords : APXPS; catalysis; palladium; methane; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The study of heterogeneous catalysis, especially within methane oxidation, is of high importance in order to more efficiently remove unburned methane from bio-fuel exhausts. This is relevant as bio-fuel engines will replace those driven by fossil fuels in the coming decades. READ MORE

  5. 15. Investigation on Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation in Immunoglobulin G Solutions

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Lovisa Jansson; [2023]
    Keywords : Protein; Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation; Microscopy; Light Scattering;

    Abstract : Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) is an important phenomenon in soft condensed matter that explains many properties of membraneless organelles in living cells. The research on this topic is, therefore, a field with a wide range of applications such as biopharmacy and biomaterials. READ MORE
