  1. 16. Interfaces in complex InAs-GaSb heterostructured nanowires - A transmission electron microscopy study

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Louise Uhrgård Gren; [2017]
    Keywords : transmission electron microscope; TEM; aberration corrected S TEM; nanowires; core-shell nanowires; InAs-GaSb; advanced characterization; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In this project epitaxially grown InAs-GaSb complex heterostructured nanowires have been characterized by means of aberration corrected TEM techniques and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The InAs-GaSb material is of interest due to its high charge carrier mobility, which has possible applications in electronic devices such as FETs. READ MORE

  2. 17. Understanding water film assisted CO intercalation underneath Ir(111) supported graphene

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik

    Author : Jonathan Peterson; [2017]
    Keywords : intercalation; graphene; scanning tunneling microscopy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to use scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) to investigate how a super-dense phase of OH and H2O, intercalated between graphene flakes and their Ir(111) substrate, facilitates intercalation of CO underneath the graphene flakes at ultra high vacuum (UHV) conditions. The structure and growth of pristine graphene flakes on Ir(111) is discussed and the formation of dense islands of OH and H2O formed below the graphene flakes upon exposure to O2 and H2, is studied using STM. 3. 18. Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Spectroscopy of the GaSb(111)B surface

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Pontus Littow; [2016]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis the III-V semiconductor material GaSb (111) was studied using Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Scanning Tunneling Spectroscopy. To characterize the surfaces of semiconductors has become more relevant in today society. When semiconductors become so small that they are in the micro scale the surface must be taken into consideration. READ MORE

  5. 20. High resolution imaging of GaAs nanowires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik

    Author : Andreas Johansson; [2015]
    Keywords : Scanning Tunneling Microscopy; STM; Nanowire; Gallium Arsenide; GaAs; Semiconductor; Atomic structure; Morphology; Nanoelectronics; Heterostructure; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires (NWs) are expected to be the new building blocks in electronics and photonics, but improved understanding of the nanowire surfaces and electronic properties are required to realize it. In this bachelor thesis, wurtzite (Wz)-zincblende (Zb) axial heterostructure GaAs nanowires are studied using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. READ MORE
