  1. 1. Modeling PFAS Transport in Groundwater - Exploring current approaches and evaluating parameter importance

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Väg- och vattenbyggnad (CI); Lunds universitet/Teknisk geologi

    Author : Clara Eklund; [2023]
    Keywords : PFAS; Groundwater modeling; FEFLOW; Python; Machine learning; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : PFAS contamination in drinking water is a current problem, and new regulations for drinking water limits were recently implemented in each member country of the EU in January this year. Understanding the spread of PFAS in groundwater is therefore important to prevent it from reaching drinking water sources. READ MORE

  2. 2. Investigation of coarse-grid CFD approach for nuclear engineering application

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Michela Casarella; [2023]
    Keywords : Thermal-hydraulics; Nuclear reactor; CFD; Sub-channel; Coarse-grid; Turbulence; Pressure drop; Termisk-hydraulik; kärnreaktor; CFD; underkanal; grovkornigt nät; turbulens; tryckfall;

    Abstract : In this thesis, an innovative coarse grid CFD approach is developed that aims toexploit the capabilities of sub-channel codes and CFD methods while overcoming theirlimitations. In the approach, a very coarse mesh is implemented in the CFD softwareOpenFOAM and a new wall treatment, based on the traditional concept of the wallfunction, is applied to the wall boundary conditions of the domain to take into accountthe low resolution of the grid which does not allow to effectively capture the effect of thesolid walls on the thermo-hydraulics of the flow. 3. 3. A Nonlinear Reservoir Model to Simulate Blue-Green Stormwater Systems – An Application to Augustenborg Catchment in Malmö, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Emmanuel Ekwu; [2021]
    Keywords : Blue-green stormwater control; Nonlinear reservoir routing model; Stormwater; Modelling; Calibration; Water engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The increasingly rapid urbanization has led to vast impervious surface areas in the urban environment. This situation of impervious surfaces has increased the surface temperature and interrupted the natural water circle, which has negatively impacted the urban environment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å at Ängelholm, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Arnold Mate Kalimukwa; Abuzack Juma Mohamed; [2021]
    Keywords : HEC-RAS; BSTEM; cross section; erosion; sediment transport; deposition; bank stability; safety factor; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This master thesis report presents the results of evaluation of bank erosion and stability analysis along Rönne å (river) at Ängelholm, located in south-west of Sweden within Scania. The main objectives cover building a hydrodynamic model, studying parameters that define sediment transport, modelling sediment transport within the river, mapping out erosive stretches and comparing to earlier observational study conducted by Norconsult in 2013, and finally conducting analysis of bank stability in most erosive stretches. 5. 5. Modernized 6 and 10-ton Dock Levelers

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Innovation

    Author : Viola Nilsson; Rebecka Karlsson; [2021]
    Keywords : Dock leveler; FEM; stress; sheet metal; load case; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This Master Thesis is made in collaboration with ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and addresses the issues and problem areas of two dock leveler models; 60 kN and 100 kN to find a new improved design. After the following product development process, a new concept was created which could withstand applied forces exceedingly. READ MORE
