  1. 11. Sequence stratigraphy, palynology and biostratigraphy across the Ordovician-Silurian boundary in the Röstånga-1 core, southern Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Ahmed Salah Badawy; [2012]
    Keywords : avsättningsmiljöer; stratigrafi; Sweden; Scania; Röstånga; Silurian; Ordovician; TAI; Thermal Alteration Index; palynology; sea level changes; stratigraphy; depositional environments; havsnivåförändringar; palynologi; Ordovicium; Silur; Skåne; Sverige.; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : A multiproxy study on sedimentary rocks spanning the Ordovician-Silurian boundary has been performed on material from the Röstånga-1 core, with the aims to improve the biostratigraphical and sedimentological framework and to interpret the depositional environment during this interval in Earth’s history. The sedimentary succession in the Röstånga-1 core is developed in the Scanian Lithofacies Belt and is considered an excellent upper Middle Ordovician-Lower Silurian reference section for southernmost Sweden. 2. 12. Sediment variations in the Kuchi Lake, southern Taiwan: : Climate signal or tectonics?

    University essay from Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Oscar Fransner; [2011]
    Keywords : Taiwan; Kuchi Lake; climate archive; sediment core; XRF;

    Abstract : Climate archives are of greatest significance when it comes to paleoclimate studies, since these types of archives in a natural way have registered and preserved the conditions of the past. There are several types of climate archives, one of the most commonly used are lake sediments, because lakes can reveal different types of information, for example weathering, vegetation and precipitation. 4. 14. Palynostratigraphy and palaeoclimatic analysis of Lower-Middle Jurassic (Pliensbachian - Bathonian) of the Inner Hebrides, NW Scotland

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Sissa Stefanowicz; [2008]

    Abstract : A palynostratigraphic investigation of partly ammonite dated, Pliensbachian to Bathonian (Early – Middle Jurassic) strata on the Isles of Skye and Raasay, Inner Hebrides in Northwest Scotland, has recovered a diverse but not always well preserved miospore flora and a less diverse dinoflagellate cysts flora. The studied interval has been subdivided into five biozones, A - E, based on the first occurrence, common occurrence, first common occurrence, and relative abundance of pollen and spore key taxa.
