  1. 6. Creation of a Finite Element Model andSystem Analysis for the Low and HighFrequency Cryogenic Telescopes of theSpace Mission LiteBIRD

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Matias Rittatore Texeira; [2022]
    Keywords : FEM; FEA; mesh model; CMB; IRAP;

    Abstract : The Lite (Light) satellite for the study of B-mode polarization and Inflation from cosmic background Radiation Detection (LiteBIRD) is a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)-led Strategic Large-Class mission designed to search for the existence of the primordial gravitational waves produced during the inflationary phase of the early Universe, through the measurement of their imprint onto the polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). It is an international collaboration, with European Union (EU) operations being coordinated by France. READ MORE

  2. 7. Constraining the Neutron Star Equation of State

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Klara Olofsson; [2022]
    Keywords : neutron star; equation of state; dense matter;

    Abstract : Neutron stars are stellar objects of extreme properties. The dense core enables usto study nuclear matter beyond saturation density. The exact composition of matterat such densities is not yet established, but the thermodynamic states of the matteris theoreticized by the Equation of State (EOS). READ MORE

  3. 8. Escaping Compact Object Binaries from Globular Clusters

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Annie Csomor; [2022]
    Keywords : Compact object binaries; binary black holes; BH-NS binaries; escaping binaries; globular clusters; escaping compact object binaries from globular clusters; escaping compact binaries; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Since 2015, the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA scientific collaboration (LVK) has detected gravitational waves from more than 90 merging compact object binaries using ground-based interferometric detectors. Compact objects orbiting in binary systems emit gravitational waves leading to a loss of energy. READ MORE

  4. 9. Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) and Bayesian Inference for Gravitational Waves

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Christine Andersson; [2021]
    Keywords : Gravitational Waves; LISA; LISA mission; Bayesian Inference; Markov Chain Monte Carlo; MCMC; Bayes’ Theorem; stochastic sampling; Metropolis Hastings; histograms; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) is a space borne gravitational wave detec- tor set to launch in 2034, with the objective of detecting and studying the Gravitational Waves (GWs) of our universe. So far, ground-based detectors such as the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) have been successful in detecting GWs, but the limitations of ground based detectors is what makes LISA so special. 5. 10. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field.
