  1. 16. Vortex Formation in Free Space

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Beräkningsmatematik

    Author : Martin Olsson; [2018]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Aircraft trailing vortices is an inevitable side effect when an aircraft generates lift. The vortices represent a danger for following aircraft and forces large spacing between landing and take off at airports. Detailed knowledge about the dynamics of aircraft trailing vortices is therefore needed to increase airport capacity and aviation safety. READ MORE

  2. 17. The next generation of commercial supersonic flight : understanding the industry and the consumer perspectives

    University essay from Högskolan i Jönköping/IHH, Företagsekonomi

    Author : Nadezhda Nacheva; Gijs Heldens; [2018]
    Keywords : : commercial supersonic flight; Concorde; airline industry; disruptive innovation; consumer perceptions; service quality;

    Abstract : For decades, the speed of commercial aviation was constrained by the sound barrier. However, recent noticeable growth in air traffic and the recognition of the “time” as a valuable asset for passengers, call for more efficient, faster commercial transport. READ MORE

  3. 18. High-Level Control of UAV Swarms with RSSI Based Position Estimation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för reglerteknik

    Author : Märta Paulsson; [2017]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Search and rescue operations can greatly benefit from the use of cooperative swarms of autonomous UAVs in order to investigate areas and collect information about the position of a missing person. In this thesis, UAV swarm algorithms are investigated where collisions are prevented both between agent pairs and between agents and static obstacles. READ MORE

  4. 19. An Experimental Study of the High-Lift System and Wing-Body Junction Wake Flow Interference of the NASA Common Research Model

    University essay from KTH/Optimeringslära och systemteori

    Author : Desirée Brundin; [2017]
    Keywords : Common research model; wind tunnel experiments; subsonic flow; wing-body junction; commercial aircraft; Cobra Probe measurements; high-lift control systems; flow interference; drag estimate.;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the turbulent flow in the wake of the wing-body junction of the NASA Common Research Model to further reveal its complex vortical structure and to contribute to the reference database used for Computational Fluid Dynamics validation activities. Compressible flows near two wall-boundary layers occurs not only at the wing-body junction but at every control surface of an airplane, therefore increased knowledge about this complex flow structure could potentially improve the estimates of drag performance and control surface efficiency, primarily for minimizing the environmental impact of commercial flight. 5. 20. Competing Discourses in Aircraft Cabin Air Contamination: How to Define a Problem

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Author : Arie Adriaensen; [2017]
    Keywords : FLMU06; Cabin Air Quality; Cabin air contamination; Bleed air contamination; Fume Events; Aviation; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : In the scientific literature and in the media there is a growing concern about toxins in aircraft originating from the air conditioning system as a result from pyrolised jet engine and hydraulic oil, and more recently also de-icing fluid. Many crews have reported long-term neurological and respiratory health effects, but also acute impairment or even incapacitation while performing their flight duties. READ MORE
