  1. 1. Morphological study of PS/PMMA-matrix on glass, related to vapour pressure, mass-fraction, and size

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörs- och kemivetenskaper (from 2013)

    Author : Gustav Larsson; [2023]
    Keywords : organic solar cells; polymer; morphology; film; AFM;

    Abstract : The objective of this study is to observe how changing amount or ratio between dried mixes of poly-methyl-methacrylate and poly-styrene change the surface appearance, and how the results might inform future design of Organic photovoltaic cells, whom are based on polymer mixtures and heavenly dependent on the arrangement of polymers. An atomic force microscope was used on glass surfaces coated in a poly-methyl-methacrylate/poly-styrene matrix and dried from either dichloromethane or ethyl-acetate to determine surface appearance. 2. 2. Effect of temperature on early stage adhesion during TiAlN sliding against Inconel 718 and Stainless steel 316L : High temperature tribology

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Ahsan Ali; [2023]
    Keywords : High temperature tribology; Early-stage adhesion; Adhesive wear; Friction; Wear resistant coatings; Physical vapour deposition PVD coatings; TiAlN; Tungsten carbide WC Co ; Difficult to machine super alloys; Inconel 718; Stainless steel 316L; High-performance materials; Abrasion; Oxidation; Chipping; Ploughing; Characterization;

    Abstract : High-performance materials such as stainless steels and nickel based super alloys are widely used in demanding applications where high mechanical and thermal properties are required. The applications of super alloys are mainly found in jet engines, power plants and gas turbines demanding high fatigue strength, corrosion and oxidation resistance as well as wear resistant properties. 3. 3. Influence of structural complexity of the Rumperöd forest on evapotranspiration

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Madeleine Durdek; [2023]
    Keywords : Forest structural complexity; evapotranspiration; vapour pressure deficit; eddy covariance; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The influence of Forest Structural Complexity (FSC) on evapotranspiration (ET) was investigated in a mixed forest of Southern Sweden where micrometeorological Eddy Covariance (EC) measurements were conducted for the years 2015 to 2022. For each year, the top 25% of Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD) were selected to emphasize the response of ET to the driest atmospheric conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Quantum Chemical Investigation of Chemical Vapour Deposition of Fe using Ferrocene and Plasma Electrons

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Author : Felicia Andersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Quantum chemistry; Ferrocene; Silver; Ag 111 ; Plasma electrons; Surface chemistry; Electronic structure; DFT; Kvantkemi; Ferrocen; Silver; Ag 111 ; Plasmaelektroner; Ytkemi; Elektronstruktur; DFT;

    Abstract : Thin films provide a remarkable asset, as depositing a thin surface layer can completely alter a material’s characteristics and provide new, inexpensive, and valuable properties. In 2020, a new Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) approach was developed at Linköping University, using plasma electrons as reducing agents for the deposition of metallic thin films. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaluating a new hydraulic implementation in LPJ-GUESS for three sites in north Europe

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Carl Holmquist; [2023]
    Keywords : Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; LPJ-GUESS; drought; sensitivity analysis; evapotranspiration; gross primary production; hydraulic parameters; boreal forest.; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Drought is projected to increase in frequency and intensity and impacts trees with increased water stress and increased mortality rate. Water stresses can cause hydraulic failure-related mortality or carbon starvation due to tree species having different strategies to deal with water stresses. READ MORE
