  1. 1. Towards a setup for narrowband terahertz generation through difference-frequency mixing of chirped ultrashort pulses

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Isa Clementsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Terahertz radiation is a useful tool for inducing lower-energy excitations in matter, where it can be used to cause structural changes through direct interaction with the crystal lattice. Sub-picosecond optical pulses can be used to generate intense broadband terahertz pulses through optical rectification in nonlinear crystals, reaching peak electric fields of several MV/m and conversion efficiencies as high as a few percent. 2. 2. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction study of longitudinal optical phonons in zincblende semiconductors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lassi Linnala; [2022]
    Keywords : femtosecond THz radiation; ultrafast x-ray diffraction; pump-probe; longitudinal optical phonons; zincblende semiconductors; anharmonic decay; density functional perturbation theory; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Anharmonic decay of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons in zincblende semiconductors is not at present well characterized due to the polar and many-body nature of the problem. Femtosecond THz radiation offers a novel route to this study, as the interaction of this radiation is directly with the phonon lattice and these THz excited phonons do not have enough energy to excite electrons over the band gap. 3. 3. First Principles Studies Of 2D Magnets

    University essay from

    Author : Yahya Fayazi; Linus Jacobsson; Folke Gustafsson; [2022]
    Keywords : 2D material; ab initio; magnet; Quantum Espresso; Density Functional Theory; DFT; CrCl3; CrBr3; CrI3; 2D material; 2 dimensionella material; två dimensionella material;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to examine the electric and magneticproperties of three monolayer chromium trihalides when doped withdifferent transitions metals, that is CrXY_6, where X=(Mn,Fe,Co,Ni,V)and Y=(Cl,Br,I). The calculations were made using the software programQuantum Espresso that used density functional theory to solveSchrödinger’s equation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gate oxide characterization of 4H-SiC MOS capacitors : A study of the effects of electrical stress on the flat-band voltage of n-type substrate 4H-SiC MOS capacitors

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Sotirios Maslougkas; [2021]
    Keywords : Silicon carbide; Gate oxide; Oxide characterization; MOS devices; Semiconductor- insulator interface; Kiselkarbid; Gate-oxid; Oxidkarakterisering; MOS-teknologi; halvledar-isolatorgränssnitt;

    Abstract : Silicon is the main material used in electronics. The evolution of power electronics and the need for more power efficient semiconductor devices led silicon to its limits. Silicon carbide is a promising material for electronic applications with a wide band-gap, high critical electric field, high thermal conductivity and saturation velocity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Glide-symmetric Holey EBG Filter Using Multiple Unit Cell Designs

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Gustav Eliasson; Lucas Åkerstedt; [2021]
    Keywords : Glide symmetry; waveguide filter; 5G; Electric band gap; unit cell; coaxial cable; holey structures; mm-wave;

    Abstract : There are more connected wireless devices than everbefore and with the rise of new smart systems such as self-drivingcars and smart cities new antenna solutions for transmittingsignals are needed. One important part of these systems is thefilters which filter out all the unwanted signals. READ MORE
