  1. 1. CRISPR Screen to Identify Genes Regulating Melanoma Cell Invasiveness

    University essay from KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Author : Emma Kroon; [2023]
    Keywords : CRISPR-Cas9; gene knockout; viral packaging; transduction; invasionstest; CRISPR-Cas9; genknockout; viruspackning; transduction; invasion assay;

    Abstract : Maligna cancerceller har förmågan att sprida sig okontrollerat i kroppen och metastasera till avlägsna organ. Kritiskt i metastaserings processen är cancercellers förmåga att invadera närliggande vävnader innan de sprider sig vidare ut i kroppen. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multi-Scale Topology Optimization of Lattice Structures Using Machine Learning

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Julia Ibstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Topology optimization; Multi-scale topology optimization; Machine learning; Gaussian process; Homogenization; Inverse homogenization; Anisotropic materials; Symmetry groups; Material property space; Topologioptimering; Flerskalig topologioptimering; Maskininlärning; Gaussian process; Homogenisering; Anisotropa material; Symmetrigrupper; Materialegenskapsrymd;

    Abstract : This thesis explores using multi-scale topology optimization (TO) by utilizing inverse homogenization to automate the adjustment of each unit-cell's geometry and placement in a lattice structure within a pressure vessel (the design domain) to achieve desired structural properties. The aim is to find the optimal material distribution within the design domain as well as desired material properties at each discretized element and use machine learning (ML) to map microstructures with corresponding prescribed effective properties. 3. 3. The Magical Library and the Symbolic Representation : Library representation in The Librarian and The Librarians

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för ABM

    Author : Karolina Hermansson; [2023]
    Keywords : Library representation; Librarian representation; Libraries; Librarians; Symbolism; Iconography; Semiotics; The Librarian; The Librarians; Library environments; Biblioteksrepresentation; Bibliotekarierepresentation; Symbolik; Ikonografi; Semiotik; The Librarian; The Librar-ians; Biblioteksmiljö; Bibliotek; Bibliotekarier;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to answer the question of how the library is represented in the Librarian franchise, not only focusing on the films/tv-series but also how it is represented in print. The analysis of the library representation uses a background of the theory and method found in semiotics and iconography, as well as qualitative content analysis, to examine not only the literal/denoted representation, but also the symbolic/connoted, and then compar-ing these findings to the representation of libraries and librarians (with a focus on the stereotypes) found in former research on the subject. 4. 4. Improving sample-efficiency of model-free reinforcement learning algorithms on image inputs with representation learning

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik

    Author : Marko Guberina; Betelhem Dejene Desta; [2022-10-14]
    Keywords : sample-efficient reinforcement learning; state representation learning; unsupervised learning; autoencoder;

    Abstract : Reinforcement learning struggles to solve control tasks on directly on images. Performance on identical tasks with access to the underlying states is much better. READ MORE

  5. 5. Examining the limitations of classification and indexing from a librarian perspective, with a particular view onto library representations of marginalised communities

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för bibliotek, information, pedagogik och IT

    Author : Anuka Ramischwili-Schäfer; [2022]
    Keywords : classification; indexing; librarian; perspective; cataloguing; neoliberalism; higher education; marginalised communities; representation;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the inconsistencies in classification and indexing present in the University of the Arts Library catalogue, and examines how these relate to the perspectives of qualified librarians through the use of qualitative interviews. We surmise that effective representation of items relating to marginalised communities, within the language of classification and indexing, has a great impact on the findability of these items.
