  1. 11. Employing the little group symmetry within the spinor-helicity formalism to constrain scattering amplitudes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Samyak Parmar; [2021]
    Keywords : little group scaling; little group; spinor-helicity formalism; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to describe the little group scaling and how it simplifies the calculation of scattering amplitudes. The little group has the defining property that it leaves a particular four-momentum invariant, which is used to describe how the internal structure of a particle is transformed under the little group. 2. 12. Dark Photon decay generated by muons in the SHiP experiment

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskap

    Author : Elizaveta Yakovleva; [2020]
    Keywords : dark matter; particle physics; particle accelerators; new physics;

    Abstract : This project has investigated the muon background of the SHiP experiment to determine whether it can boost the experiment sensitivity to visible Dark Photon decay. Using Fermi-Weizsäcker-Williams approximation to muon scattering we found the probability of muons generating massive photons, using Bremsstrahlung and direct lepton pair production as an estimation of the frequency of muon EM-interactions. 3. 13. A shady future for Brazilian agriculture? Obstacles to and opportunities for agroforestry as a sustainable alternative to current agricultural practices

    University essay from Lunds universitet/LUCSUS

    Author : Asger Mindegaard; [2019]
    Keywords : agriculture; agroforestry; sustainability transitions; multi-level perspective; Brazil; sustainability science; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : As the negative environmental impacts of contemporary agriculture become still more evident and widespread, the question of how to feed future generations while preserving the vital stability of the planet’s environment is more urgent than ever. Major institutions are targeting the environmental sustainability of agriculture, internationally as well as in Brazil. READ MORE

  4. 14. Event Generators and Light Dark Matter

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Michal Nowak; [2019]
    Keywords : Event Generators; Dark Matter; Particle Kinematics; Particle Scattering; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Recently, a number of experiments have been proposed with the aim of finding light dark matter. In particular, the proposed LDMX experiment is meant to utilize electron scattering off metal nuclei to excite dark matter emissions. Motivated by this, we construct an event generator for electrons scattering off metal nuclei. READ MORE

  5. 15. Performance of jet subtraction in pPb and PbPb collisions, without collectivity

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sebastian Grabowski; [2018]
    Keywords : heavy ion: scattering; Angantyr; underlying event; subtraction; jet: quenching; non-collectivity; stacking; jet: correlation; non-colliective; background; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : We investigated the performance of basic jet subtraction, by the utilization of jet reconstruction generally used at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This was done by studying Z-bosons, in the dielectron decay channel, and the associated jet correlation in pp, pPb and PbPb collisions, using datasets generated by the Monte Carlo generator PYTHIA8.
