  1. 1. Study on Decolorization of Reactive-dyed Cotton through Fenton-oxidation as a Pre-treatment for Textile Recycling

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Elise Meurs; [2023]
    Keywords : Fenton-oxidation; advanced oxidation processes; decolorization; textile recycling; cotton; reactive dye;

    Abstract : In this master thesis, the feasibility of Fenton-oxidation for the decolorization of reactive dyed cotton is investigated as a potentially environmental-friendly preparatory treatment for mechanical/chemical recycling. Raw, knitted cotton is dyed with a black and a blue dye, whereafter preliminary tests are performed to investigate the influence of increasing Fenton- solution concentrations and different iron-sources on the efficiency of the discoloration, without carrying out complete optimization of the process-parameters. 2. 2. Production of biocomposite materials from filamentous fungi grown on apple pomace

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Angela Sabbagh; Susanna Bahari; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Managing and reducing food waste has increasingly become a global problem in later years, including food waste in the form of fruit pulp from the juice and beverage production industries. Another current urgent issue is the need for a replacement of fossil fuel-based plastics with more sustainable biopolymers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reduction of Set-recovery of Surface densified Scots Pine by Furfuryl Alcohol

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Träteknik

    Author : Lei Han; [2019]
    Keywords : surface densification; set-recovery; hardness; furfuryl alcohol;

    Abstract :  For wood products such as flooring and worktop, only one surface is normally exposed in their use, and the mechanical properties like hardness and wearing resistance of that surface is then important. Since mechanical properties are strongly related to the density, surface densification, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Enhancement of Phenol Formaldehyde Adhesive with Crystalline Nano Cellulose

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för skog och träteknik (SOT)

    Author : Johan Ekstrand; [2019]
    Keywords : Nano Cellulose; Fibrillated cellulose; Wood Adhesive; Shear strength; Adhesive Enhancement; Formaldehyde adhesive; Phenol Formaldehyde;

    Abstract : Abstract The wood industries to this day use almost exclusively petroleum derived adhesives that are based mainly on the reaction of formaldehyde with urea, melamine or phenol. These adhesives have low cost and good adjustable properties which makes it hard for bio-based alternatives to compete. READ MORE

  5. 5. The effect of thermal pre-treatment and waste paper addition to biomethane potential of macroalgae Saccharina latissima

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggd miljö och energiteknik (BET)

    Author : Gadis Tandiyoputri; [2018]
    Keywords : Biomethane potential; Macroalgae; Saccharina latissima; mechanical pre-treatment; thermal pre-treatment;

    Abstract : As a steady renewable energy technology, biogas is a viable alternative to reduce our dependency to fossil fuels and to prevent severe climate change. Biogas potential can be improved through combining different types of substrate and inoculum, as well as through substrate pre-treatments. READ MORE
