  1. 16. Möjligheten för biologisk mångfald på bostadsgårdar : hur olika typologier av bostadsgårdar skapar förutsättningar för habitat som gynnar biologisk mångfald

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Author : Lovisa Lindved; [2023]
    Keywords : biologisk mångfald; fragmentering; habitat; biotop; konnektivitet; spridningsmöjligheter; ekologiska nischer; supplementering; källa-sänkadynamik; kantzon; strukturrika planteringar; skiktning; boplats;

    Abstract : Biologisk mångfald i staden är avgörande för flertalet livsviktiga funktioner. Dessa inkluderar omhändertagande av dagvatten, luftrening och minskning av buller. Stadens grönytor bidrar till ökat välmående hos människorna och synlig biodiversitet har en positiv inverkan på människor. READ MORE

  2. 17. Technological Innovation System of hydroponics technology in Halland : A case study on functional weaknesses

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

    Author : Binil Shah Usman Thorath; Josephine Palma Porto; [2023]
    Keywords : Technological Innovation Systems TIS ; TIS Framework; Functions of TIS; Hydroponics technology; Halland Region of Sweden;

    Abstract : Problem Discussion: The world population is increasing at a rate that the current food production capacity would not be able to sustain. In Sweden, only a small portion of the land area is used for cultivation and there is a high percentage of imports of food. READ MORE

  3. 18. Spatial patterns of Dissolved Organic Matter in Swedish Surface Waters

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment

    Author : Anna Lackner; [2022]
    Keywords : Dissolved Organic Matter; Brownification; Digital Mapping; Soil Moisture; Stream Length;

    Abstract : Dissolved organic matter (DOM) in surface water has been widely studied, in part due to its significance for aquatic ecology and drinking water quality. Across Sweden, increases in the total organic carbon (TOC) concentrations and color of surface waters, known as brownification, were noted in the decades before and after year 2000, though recent analysis has found widespread DOM increase to have ceased after 2010. 4. 19. Modelling of Fluid Flow and Contaminant Transport in Fractured Rock : Case Study

    University essay from KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Author : Ebba Pegestam; [2022]
    Keywords : Contaminant transport; Discrete Fracture Network; Geology; Geohydrology; Groundwater transport; Fracture; Drinking water; Contamination; Föroreningar; flödestransport; spricknätverk; geologi; geohydrologi; grundvattentransport; sprickor; dricksvatten;

    Abstract : Drinking water contamination is a big concern in Sweden and is commonly traced back to being waste from former manufacturing industrial sites. Pollutants in the topsoil can be remediated by several techniques, such as decontamination or excavation but the toxins already enclosed in the bedrock cannot be treated the same and is harder to track possible contaminant pathways. 5. 20. Estimation of dissolved organic carbon from inland waters using remote sensing data and machine learning

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Lasse Harkort; [2022]
    Keywords : dissolved organic carbon; machine learning; remote sensing; inland waters; water quality; open source data; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the first attempt to estimate Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) in inland waters over a large-scale area using satellite data and machine learning (ML) methods. Four ML approaches, namely Random Forest Regression (RFR), Support Vector Regression (SVR), Gaussian Process Regression (GPR), and a Multilayer Backpropagation Neural Network (MBPNN) were tested to retrieve DOC using a filtered version of the recently published open source AquaSat dataset with more than 16 thousand samples across the continental US matched with satellite data from Landsat 5, 7 and 8 missions.
