  1. 1. Modelling of Whiplash Trauma Parametric study of rear-end impacts using FEM and CFD

    University essay from

    Author : Andreu Oliver González; Mourya Vanama; [2019-07-03T12:20:01Z 2019-07-03T12:20:01Z 2010]
    Keywords : Farkostteknik; Strömningsmekanik; Vehicle Engineering; Fluid mechanics;

    Abstract : This work is a combination of Finite Element (FE) modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to investigate the effect of acceleration pulses, head restraint and seating posture on facet joint loads and pressure transient magnitudes on the neck injury outcome during whiplash motion. A parametric study is carried out with the FE human body model THUMS (Total HUman Model for Safety) for a variety of crash pulses and crash conditions that have a known relative risk of long term neck injuries in rear-end impacts. 2. 2. Conceptual Design of Seat Belt Installation for Rear-facing Child Car Seat

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för ekonomi, teknik och samhälle

    Author : Johan Niklasson; [2019]
    Keywords : Product development; Child car seat; Technology;

    Abstract : Children are more vulnerable in vehicles compared to adults in collisions. Two main reasons are the different body structure between these two and vehicles are more designed to fit adults. Children’s head is larger relative to their body mass and their neck muscle ligaments are still not fully developed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation of Head and Neck Injuries during Misuses of Child Restraint Systems : Simulations of Car Accidents Performed with the PIPER Child Model

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Steinunn Kristín Jóhannsdóttir; [2019]
    Keywords : CRS misuse; car accident; finite element analysis; PIPER model; head and neck injuries;

    Abstract : Car collisions are, unfortunately, not uncommon and cause 1.35 million deaths each year worldwide. Children are often occupants in cars and to ensure their safety, child restraint systems (CRSs) have been developed. However, CRSs need to be used correctly to be efficient. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effect of Lap Belt Position on Kinematics & Injuries by using 6YO PIPER child HBM : in Frontal Crash Simulations

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa, natur- och teknikvetenskap (from 2013)

    Author : Sarah Hassan El-Mobader; [2018]
    Keywords : PIPER; Human Body Model; 6YO; Full Frontal; Child Restraint Systems; Injuries; Kinematics; Abdomen; Lap Belt; PIPER; Humanmodell; 6åring; frontalkrock; barnstolar; barnsäkerhet; skador; kinematic; bukorgan; höftbälte;

    Abstract : Traffic accidents are the second leading cause of child fatality among children younger than 15 years of age. In the course of 10 years, the implementation of child restraint systems has decreased child fatality in traffic accidents with 50%, for children younger than 15 years. READ MORE

  5. 5. Rituell slakt - med och utan bedövning

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health

    Author : Ida Brandt; [2014]
    Keywords : djurvälfärd; slakt; rituell; religiös; bedövning; shechtica; dhabiha; kosher; halal; animal welfare; slaughter; ritual; religious; stunning;

    Abstract : Bedövning eller inte vid rituell slakt är en ständigt aktuell fråga, vars lagstiftning och regler skiljer sig mellan olika länder och religiösa grupper. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att med utgångspunkt från djurets lidande utreda vilken rituell slaktmetod som ger högst djurvälfärd; slakt utan bedövning eller slakt med bultbedövning, elektrisk head-only-bedövning eller post-cut stunning.
