  1. 1. Hur påverkar mekaniskt snytbaggeskydd, markberedning, plantstorlek och plantgödsling granplantors överlevnad och tillväxt?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Johanna Abrahamsson; Jessica Wallgren; [2022]
    Keywords : mekaniskt snytbaggeskydd; plantstorlek; markberedning; plantgödsling; föryngringsåtgärder; vitalitet;

    Abstract : Reforestation of land entails both costs and uncertainties. Risk of pine weevil infestation, competition from other vegetation, frost and insufficient nutrient supply are some examples. READ MORE

  2. 2. Emissions of nitrous oxide associated with frost killed cover crops

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Felicia Olofsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Nitrous oxide; cover crops; greenhouse gases; freeze-thaw cycles;

    Abstract : Agriculture is responsible for approximately 80% of anthropogenic emissions of the potent and long-lived greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N2O). N2O emissions from agricultural soils are characterized by high temporal and spatial variability and often peak in short bursts related to events such as precipitation, fertilization and soil thawing. 3. 3. Complete removal of biomass from oilseed radish as a cover crop decreased nitrous oxide emissions

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Emma Lövgren; [2022]
    Keywords : Nitrous oxide; cover crops; freeze-thaw cycles; immobilization; oil seed radish;

    Abstract : One of the many benefits of utilizing cover crops in crop rotations is their carbon sequestrating effect. However, frost-sensitive cover crops could emit high levels of the potent greenhouse gas nitrous oxide. READ MORE

  4. 4. Vegetation phenology derived using the plant phenology index and the normalized difference vegetation index for the Balkan peninsula, south-eastern Europe

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Aleksandra Ivanova; [2019]
    Keywords : physical geography; ecosystem analysis; phenology; vegetation; climate change; remote sensing; plant phenology index; PPI; timesat; Balkan peninsula; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This study analyses the performance of the satellite derived Plant Phenology Index (PPI) against the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for estimating start of season (SOS) and end of season (EOS) of vegetation growth in part of the Balkan Peninsula, Southeastern Europe (2000 – 2016). Results revealed that PPI and NDVI differ considerably; SOS and EOS may diverge by more than one month between the two indices. READ MORE
